Asian Capital (July 2004 Issue) released a list of “Top 15 Influential Chinese Business Leaders”. Mr. Zhou Mingchen, Chairman of COFCO, ranked No. 8 on the list.

　　Famous for its reports on business leaders, Asian Capital pointed out that Mr. Zhou Mingchen is now leading a previous state-owned foreign trade giant to an unprecedented self-revolution, including privatization of a red chip, business reconstruction and entry into financial service sector. Under his leadership, COFCO, the state-owned enterprise (SOE) with long history, has turned over a new leaf and becomes a pioneer in creating “New-type SOE”. In the view of the Magazine, the new-type SOEs, like COFCO are becoming “the Fourth Force” in China's adjustment of social and economic structure.
